Loudoun County homes are steeped in history, and one place that history is preserved is the National Sporting Library and Museum. Located in Middleburg, Virginia, the museum was founded to preserve and share the art, literature, and culture of equestrian, fishing, and field sports. The permanent collection is enormous and includes paintings, photographs, sculptures, decorative arts, and more. Highlights from the permanent collection are on display and change periodically.
Each month, Loudoun County property owners can look forward to interesting events held at the National Sporting Museum. On the second Saturday of each month, a film that incorporates sporting themes is shown at 1 p.m. Sunday Sketch sessions take place on the first Sunday of the month from 2 to 4 p.m. A local artist or art teacher leads a group, emphasizing an aspect of sketching. Materials are provided, and the program is free.
Outdoor sports fans from Loudoun County homes can visit Wednesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission for adults is $10; for seniors and youth (13 to 18) is $8; children 12 and under get in free. Admission on Wednesdays and the last Sunday of the month are free.
